#GivingTuesday is November 28 - Save the Date!
Weak-willed? Know you will spend it all on Black Friday/Small Business Saturday/Cyber Monday? Don't worry; give early! Our grid is waiting for your giving!
What does your giving mean to us? It means time. While legally we must only keep strays for 7 days, we work to keep them as long as they need, while giving them all they need.
Whether at a shelter or rescue, seniors take longer to adopt out. And their medical support can be higher. Your giving allows us to give sanctuary to seniors like Momma & Poppa. Read their story:
Momma and Poppa have done it all together – the adventures of youth, the trials and triumphs of middle age, the soft slowing into old age. Sadly, they also share another milestone – abandonment. Found stray together, we have no doubt they have never been apart. Momma is Poppa’s guidepost, and he will go nowhere without her. He struggles these days to keep up, and is perhaps the older of the two. Broken teeth and advanced age make it hard to know for sure. But Momma retains some of her cattle dog spunk, playing with the kitties and sniffing all she can. For Poppa, the breathing is slower, the moving is harder. But the love is still strong. These gentle dogs knew human love once, as well. When found, they were already fixed, heartworm negative, and had clearly never missed a meal. They are housetrained. Poppa’s hips have a hard time supporting his girth, but he gets on. Separating these two now is unthinkable. We are hoping for a home with enough room for two, with single-story living for Poppa with no or minimal stairs. They are quiet and easy keepers, good at naps and walks and receiving pets and compliments. We want them to return to that home life they clearly once knew. They deserve no less, for however long.
