STORM RESPONSE

Our shelter was south of the tornado damage, but it struck our service area, Jacksonville. FIRST AND FOREMOST - we hope you all are safe this morning!

Our shelter was already 100% full prior to the storm due to typical March high drop-offs and puppy season. Let's try to keep loved pets out of the shelter and in safe homes:

***LOST PETS***

If you have been separated from your pets during the storm, please PM pictures, last location seen, and contact info to the page:  https://www.facebook.com/CalhounCountyHumaneSocietyAL. Our goal is quick reunions.

***PHONE # for tornado victims ONLY: To check whether your animal is at the shelter, call 256-405-6680*** For non-emergency communication with the shelter, please use EMAIL so as to not overtax the phone and staff. THANK YOU!
Continue to call ANIMAL CONTROL to report found animals (256-435-3582).

Also post to lost/found sites, including Happy Tails Pet Recovery, which is followed by this page and the animal control officer: https://www.facebook.com/groups/248508395218953/

If you have friends who were displaced and you have room in your home to keep their pets safe, please consider offering this safe space while they find new housing.

Some local vets have emergency funds to assist disaster-affected animals with boarding and medical treatment. Please check for help:

UPDATE 3/20:
Clanton Animal Hospital is full
Anniston Veterinary Clinic is accepting boarding for owned pets (not strays/found) and assisting injured animals.
Animal Medical Center has disaster assistance available for qualified owners for boarding and medical care.

Be safe, and let's help each other in the wake of this storm.
